Will music downloaded from the itunes music store work on my Creative Zen mp3 and windows media player?

If I download music from the itunes store what format will it be in? Can I put it on my Creative Zen Mp3 player and will I be able to play it in windows media player rather than itunes?

Itunes tunes are downloaded in AAC which is not compatable with any player apart from an ipod, and is not compatable with windows media player either.
