Is it legal to lie about your age on the iTunes Store?

When registering for an account on the iTunes Store, is it legal to lie about your age, even if you are old enough to have an account? And if lying is against the contract, and that's illegal, and any contract against a minor isn't enforceable, is it still illegal? Thanks in advance!|||This came up yesterday.

Generally, you SHOULD lie about your age to random websites. It's an important part of your identity that can be used for identity theft. The site could be hacked, or, some of them stick it on a public profile page without even telling you they do.

When is it illegal? Only if the lie is irrelevant to the contract or the law. That usually happens when you say you are older than you really are, so you can get privileges you would not get if you told the truth. For instance if you're under 18 and you say you are over 18.

Busted :)
